Football Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match victorious run was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a range of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday football team," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's sole away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.

A family member told me to select Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

But I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

It is a tough one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
