A person who spiked sweets with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
However, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The accused was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She stated the man had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She stated the man proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the events.
The prosecutor stated the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities a second time.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
