One-time economic leader Larry Summers is exiting the governing body at the artificial intelligence firm, just days after a series of electronic messages between him and deceased financier the disgraced billionaire became public.
The economist commented in a release that he was "grateful for the chance to have served, enthusiastic about the potential of the enterprise, and eagerly await tracking their progress".
Summers, who once presided over the prestigious university, stated on recently that he would be stepping back from public responsibilities due to his relationship with Epstein.

The newly public communications showed that the official exchanged messages with the financier until the eve of the financier's 2019 arrest for alleged human trafficking of minors.
In additional comments, the technology organization expressed it accepted Summers' choice to resign.
"We acknowledge his many contributions and the perspective he brought to the Board," the organization remarked.

This news comes after both chambers of Congress agreed on this week to approve a bill that would require the Department of Justice to release its documents on Epstein.
The legislation will then move to the office of President Trump for endorsement. The President has indicated he expects to endorse the legislation, after reversing his position on the issue following pressure from his base.

A group of Epstein-related correspondence released by the House Oversight Committee days ago referenced multiple prominent individuals in the billionaire's previous network, without implying any criminal activity by those people.
The communications revealed that Summers and the financier often met for meals, with the billionaire often trying to connect the academic to prominent global figures.

After the correspondence were released with the general audience, he stated he took "full responsibility for my poor choice to continue corresponding with the financier".
He continued that he desired "to rebuild confidence and repair connections with the people nearest to me".

The professor served in leadership roles under Democratic administrations; acting as treasury secretary under the former president, and as director of the National Economic Council under Barack Obama.
He headed the institution from five years and remains a faculty member there. When announcing his departure from public duties previously on Monday, he indicated he would persist with his academic responsibilities.
Further Repercussions
Following Summers' declaration on earlier this week, the Center for American Progress, a liberal research organization in Washington where the professor was a senior fellow, announced that Summers was ceased to be connected with the organization.
He became part of the directorate of OpenAI, which makes the language model, in the previous year - following a unsuccessful effort to oust its CEO Sam Altman.
