Mohamed Salah Offers Regret to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Mohamed Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
What Happened
He was omitted from a European match subsequent to making accusations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has refused to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also noted that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I understand there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
