Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with results like these.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
