The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which managed to collect a substantial amount for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The track blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the region was noted for its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all making this cause better known and proving that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
